I think he means that when you‘re not comfortable with oneself, you tend to always surround yourself with friends. You don’t like being alone because you will then think about your actions and looks. You are not satisfied by who you are and surround yourself with friends because it makes you feel like you fit it and that you’re happy. Therefore, when you’re alone, you start thinking that you’re not good enough and look down at yourself. You are not content in who you are.
This idea doesn’t really apply to my life because I’m pretty content with who I am. I don’t like being alone because I don’t like being in quiet places (not because I’m not comfortable with myself). I don’t dread it, but I don’t enjoy it..
